Take me home

'Shop' responsibly; animals are not toys — pets are for life.
It breaks my heart to meet yet another batch of dogs in need of a permanent home.

Benny, Charlie, Fergus, Nellie, Patch and Rebel can be adopted (or fostered) at the Australian Working Dog Rescue Inc.

Repeated offender

I'm not very impressed with Mr Big lately.

From the corner of my eye, I saw what he did last evening,

He picked on my curtain!

And, he did not indicate to me that he needed to go to the toilet...

Ginger

I finally got around to take some recent photos of my other guinea pig, Ginger.

Mind you, I kept the boys' original names given to them by their first owners for 'old time's sake'. I would have called Ginger, Beethoven.

Ginger, or Ginger aka Beethoven, is a proud Abyssinian guinea pig.
I love how wild he looks — those untameable fur reminds me of a punk rocker from the late 80's. At times, I thought he sports that noble look.

Both Ginger and Wiggley were adopted in early 2006. I was told by the previous owner that the boys were almost a year old with Ginger being the older one (and more intelligent).

One for the cats

This canine scratcher would make any cat its day.

I'm addicted to Etsy. All those pretty things. Help.

Answer to Make-a-guess post

Maybe it was too hard to guess. For those who did try, well, the answer is PF.

I thought the bean bag silhouette gave it away if you read an earlier post on PF. He's one black cat that adores a pink camouflage bean bag.

These kitty paw pads used to be soft and smooth...

We had quite a lot of rain over the last couple of weeks in Sydney. I prayed for no-rain-sunshine for this long weekend (yes, we still celebrate the Queen's birthday, Queen Elizabeth II in case you were wondering). I got my wish. Not only was it sunny but the sun was super cooperative on Sunday; it was blasting like anything!

The lodge where the dogs are housed has a fantastic big fenced-up lawn for the dogs to run and play in. Shade is limited as the eucalyptus trees in the yard are still fairly young. I love natural light. But a full blasting sun with cloudless sky is not ideal.  So I made do with as much technique as possible with what I could  carry in my hands to minimise distracting the dogs with more photographic  equipment like a flash gun, big reflector / diffuser. From the dogs' reaction, I suspect some of them hadn't even seen a camera before — well, a big, black chunky one that is.

Fancy Rear Gear

If you are a cat owner, you would have noticed how 'shy' cats are in showing their rears. Dogs, well, it depends on the individual.

I know my two black cats are especially 'shy' (not) about showing their rear ever since their first toilet training session. They were just 10 weeks old then when we found them on the streets and took them home.

I'm considering one each for Mr Big and PF. I wonder if they make little ones for the guinea pigs; then again guinea pigs don't have tails to fasten these cool rear gears on.

You can get one of these cool Rear Gears on etsy for USD $5:

Check out their website:

If you have tried them before, let me know what you think!

Boy snuggle

It has been raining quite a lot lately in Sydney — almost non-stop heavy rainfall.

Apart from having to brave the rain to and from work (yes, I still work full time), I took the opportunity to sort through my archives and catch-up on cataloguing and posting.

Here's our two black cats, PF and Mr Big, sharing some love.

PF is the smaller cat with large beady eyes. He sometimes sports that sinister look. I dread to think what's on his mind.

(Boy snuggling is a pretty common sight for them. I haven't caught them fighting. I like to think they don't fight at all - peace on earth?)

Excuse me?

Remind me next time never to work with animals when the tele is still on and is showing Wallace and Gromit.
